Custom Coffee Roasts

Designing My Own Coffee

If you know me, you know i love coffee. Not just drinking coffee but the entire experience. My daily routine, making coffee with my Breville Barista Express, takes me a good 10-15 minutes and it’s become much less about making coffee and much more of a daily meditation. i also own a Hario V60 setup for pourover, a OXO Brew Compact Cold Brewer for, well, for cold brew, and a Moka Express in which i attempt to make authentic café Cubanos. i grind all my beans using the Baratza Encore Conical Burr Coffee Grinder. And for weighing purposes, i use a TIMEMORE 2022 with a built in timer.

To create a high quality coffee that aligns with my vision of creating a business of the highest quality, i worked with the team at Carico Global to source only the finest quality coffee available in the world, but even that wasn’t good enough, i wanted to make sure that the coffee that we purchased also had an immensely positive impact on the communities where the coffee is grown and Carico Global provides me that as they are the only coffee importer i could find that aligned with my goals, values, and mission to have a positive impact on the world.

Currently, i’ve designed two custom roasts:

☕️ 33 Sticks® Data Correlation Roast

☕️ 33 Sticks® Statistical Significance Roast

33 Sticks® Data Correlation Roast

The Data Correlation Roast is a Ugandan single origin Arabica coffee, created using only the finest coffee beans that are sourced within a strict, organic-certified supply chain. Great measures are taken to purchase, at a fair price, the coffee beans from small scale farmers across Uganda who have a commitment to preserve their soil and to practice sustainable harvesting and processing practices.

Origin: Uganda
Bean: AAA
Roast: Dark
Roaster: Kip Rolfe, Owner and CEO of Coast 2 Coast Coffee Roasters located in Los Angeles, California

Why was it important to only use high-quality, ethnically sourced coffee?

Everything i do, everything i create, is a reflection of my brand, my values, and my commitment to doing things differently. My dedication to quality and my focus on creating amazing experiences can be found in everything i do from the analytics services we deliver at 33 Sticks, to the children’s books we authored, to creating high-end coffee to share with my closest friends. That’s why when i decided to create a 33 Sticks branded coffee, i couldn’t do it any other way but the absolute best.

About Ugandan Bugisu Coffee

Bugisu is home to almost 20% of the world’s coffee farmers, Uganda’s coffee is prized for its taste and versatility which means it ends up as an ingredient for some of the world’s most known coffee blends. Only now is it being put to the forefront globally as single origin. Carico’s coffees are grown under shade of indigenous trees, this allows the coffee fruit to grow and ripen slowly. The result is a harder bean which is then hand-picked when optimally ripe and then processed at a co-operative using a more delicate process known as wet-processing and are regularly turned as they dry in the sun.

33 Sticks® Statistical Significance Roast

The Statistical Significance Roast is a Ugandan single origin arabica coffee, created using only the finest coffee beans that are sourced within a strict, organic-certified supply chain. Great measures are taken to purchase, at a fair price, our coffee beans from small scale farmers across Uganda who have a commitment to preserve their soil and to practice sustainable harvesting and processing practices.

Origin: Uganda
Bean: Peaberry
Roast: Medium
Roaster: Tyler Kalisiak, Owner and Operator of Guiltless Food Co located in Temecula, California

Why are Peaberry coffee beans unique?

Much like you, and confirmed by the fact that you have found this page, the peaberry is an anomaly. Usually, coffee cherries contain two seeds, or beans, flat on one side and rounded on the other. In the case of peaberries, only one seed is fertilized. This results in a single round seed with a ridge down the middle.

In around 5% of cases, instead of the typical twin coffee beans, a coffee cherry produces only one round seed, which we call a peaberry.

Other than their rarity, the manual labor involved in locating and picking peaberries helps ensure that only the highest quality beans make it to the roaster.

The peaberry are known to produce a cup of coffee that has a rich chocolate flavor, and delicate hints of dark fruits such as blackcurrant and plum, with an incredibly sweet and smooth finish.
